Young Bloods Take FAME’s
Helm
The Filipino Association for Mariners’ Employment (FAME)
has undergone a facelift as its veteran leaders started paving the way
for the entry of young stalwarts to steer the organization to new grounds
but are nonetheless consistent with its major thrusts.
This scenario has become apparent following the recent
election of FAME’s new set of Officers and Board of Directors for 2006
– 2007, which reflected the infusion of young bloods to handle the reign
of the organization.
Engr. Sammuel T. Lim, President and General Manager of
Great Southern Maritime Services Corp. (GSM) has been elected as new FAME
President, succeeding Ms. Josephine J. Francisco of NYK-Fil Shipmanagement,
who turned in a prolific performance while at the helm of the organization
in the past two years.
In addition to Engr. Lim, the other Officers of FAME for
2006-2007 are Marlon Roño of Magsaysay Maritime Corporation as VP
for Internal Affairs; Jose Albar G. Kato of Albar Shipping and Trading
Corporation as VP for External Affairs; Ericson M. Marquez of Virjen Maritime
Corporation as Secretary; and Commo. Adonis B. Donato of OSM Maritime Services
Inc. as Treasurer.
Also elected as members of the FAME Board, who will serve
the term as Directors, are Capt. Reynaldo D. Casareo of Cargo Safeway,
Inc.; Capt. Teodoro B. Quijano of Barko International, Inc.; Capt. Victor
S. Del Prado of Klaveness Maritime Agency, Inc.; Mr. James E. Nicoll of
Philippine Hammonia Ship Agency Inc.; Capt. Alfonso R. Del Castillo of
TSM Shipping (Phils.), Inc.; Capt. Lou A. Atienza of Euro-Asiatic Shipping,
Inc., Mr. Vicente F. Aldanese, Jr of CMS Crew Management Services, Inc.;
Mr. Michael J. Estaniel of Trans-Global Maritime Agency, Inc.; Capt. Jose
M. Mangabat of Blue Manila, Inc. and Mr. Reuben C. Romero of Southfield
